Summer of Yoga

You may not remember the Summer of Love, but it will be hard to forget the Summer of Yoga in 2018.

The Summer of Love took place during the summer of 1967, when close to 100,000 individuals, mostly young hippies, converged on San Francisco. Whilst we’re not expecting anywhere near that number, Yoga Mandir has scheduled a range of programs to make this a memorable summer.

Introducing Sadhana-Summer

We’ve reworked our popular online Introducing Sadhana Program (usually completed in 10 weeks) to run over the 5 weeks of summer (January). This short online course for students with Iyengar Yoga experience delivers the structures and principles to undertake a home practice. Participants conduct a daily practice, journal their sequences and submit weekly practice logs whilst using the support material delivered online
No need to be in Canberra for this one!
Introducing Sadhana-Summer commences Monday 1 January 2018

Classes in January

Throughout January Yoga Mandir continues to run a program of classes for students of Yoga. Classes are held both morning and evening 7 days a week. Summer is a great time to visit Canberra, so now is your chance. Get to the galleries and bracket the day with Yoga classes both morning and evening.

Come and see why Lonely planet said
‘… Canberra has been staking a claim for the title of 'coolest little capital' – and we’re not just talking winter temperatures. Where else could you chill out in with fresh ground coffee, before spotting kangaroos in the capital’s reserves then taking in some of the nation’s best culture?

Hit the road Jack!

Summer of Yoga Intensives

The highlight of our Summer of Yoga program is our 3, week-long Antaraya intensives. The intensives run Monday to Friday from the 14 January through to the 1 February, with classes in the early morning and evening. Each week explores a different level from the Yoga Mandir syllabus and the focus of these intensives is the Antarayas (obstacles to practice).
Local and interstate students can enrol for one or more intensives with some students attending all three weeks. This is undoubtedly a great way to commence the new year.

Beginners Yoga-Summer Intensive

Each year Yoga Mandir holds a week long Summer Intensive for beginners. The intensive runs for five consecutive days from the 22-26 January, with classes in the morning and evening.

The summer intensive is a great way to dive into Iyengar yoga and delivers the underpinnings to enter a Foundation Level practitioner course in Term 1, 2018.

O-Week

O-week at Yoga Mandir (29 January- 4 February) is our week of being open to the public. O-week is a chance to experience what Iyengar Yoga is all about.
Increasingly, yoga has become fast food (something to consume quickly in your busy week) and much of the yoga taught today has little to sustain the individual. Come and see why Iyengar Yoga is unique. Why its worth studying through a practice.
Iyengar Yoga can change your life!

Children's Summer in O-Week

Yoga Mandir is looking to expand our offering of children’s classes. We plan to kick off the year with some O-Week free classes.
Here’s a chance for children to sample the benefits of Yoga. Come along to our free session on Saturday 3 February 2.00-3.15pm
Children will work in 2 age groups. 5-10 years, 11-15 years
Bring your children along to enjoy the benefits of Iyengar yoga

Mother-Baby in O-Week

Come along to our free classes for mums and babies during O-Week
The first two years of a new-born’s life is full of change and exploration and this period is often the busiest for new parents. Our Mother-Baby class lets mothers bring their babies with them so that mothers can practice together whilst keeping a watchful eye on their baby.

Residential Yoga Retreat. 8-13 January

The late 1960’s were associated with counter culture and a back to nature movement. Things went a little wild in the Summer of Love and then plane travel opened up the world for people to explore and find themselves.
Yoga came to the west and it never left. Recently, things have gone a little wild in Yoga, but at its core it is a practice and the Yoga Mandir annual residential retreat fits the bill.

Now’s your time to step out of that busy life, get back to basics and to look inward through this contemplative practice.
