Caroline Plunkett

Caroline is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher; she holds an Introductory Level 2 Certificate with the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia. She completed her Preliminary Teacher Training with and attends Professional Development with Alan Goode. Caroline started attending yoga classes in Canberra in 1999 as a young adult. She commenced teaching at Yoga Mandir in 2012.

Caroline has tertiary qualifications in social work, law and Asian studies (Japanese). She has an interest in women’s health, babies, children and Ayurveda.

Caroline is intrigued by the concentrated wisdom of traditional yogic texts such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Caroline sees these texts as a map or a blueprint for being a decent human being. Caroline’s job is to make relevant the essence of yoga for anyone who is interested. With a focus on asana and pranayama she integrates and reconceptualises yogic wisdom for our time and place. To do this, both ethically and practically, she maintains a practice of yoga.

However, what brought Caroline to yoga initially as a university student and athlete was simply that it made her body and soul feel better.

She currently teaches Open, Foundation, Developing and Established Practitioner Yogasana Courses as well as a Pranayama Course. She also established and teaches in the Summer and Term Break Intensive Programs as well as the Mother-Baby Yoga Program.

In addition to her teaching role, Caroline previously held the role of Office Manager at the Institute. Caroline now holds the role of Training Program Coordinator for Yoga Mandir.
